What happens when women decide to leave the red light district?

We had 40 women in our care at Starfish Project in 2018! When a woman chooses to leave her life in the brothels to experience freedom at Starfish Project, she moves into our safe women’s shelter. This is the box that welcomes each woman where she will live in community with women who love and cherish each other. 💝

Every woman who arrives at Starfish Project receives this Happy Box with basic hygiene necessities. From chopsticks to a toothbrush, we fill this box with items that we hope make her feel comfortable as she transitions into her new life. Some of these women have never received a gift before. We are hopeful that this happy box creates feelings of love, generosity, and comfort as women are welcomed into a new season of life. At the shelter, she will establish independence and learn that she is loved. At her new job making jewelry, she will develop a career and experience freedom, maybe for the first time.
